Reiki Classes offered by Myra Reichel and Marian Durnell are in the style developed by the founder of Reiki Dr. Usui and his students in Japan and then brought to the West by Mrs. Takada and added to by her students and their students and includes Tibetan Symbols for Attunements. Fran Staret’s classes are more extensive including what was brought to the West and includes the original techniques practiced by Reiki’s founder Dr. Usui in the 1920’s and in Japan today. She teaches the full Japanese Reiki classes or those who have already taken Western style Reiki she offers intensives that include just the extra original Dr. Usui techniques.=

I. Usui Reiki Origins Training & Certification Program

The Usui Reiki Origins certification program is for new and returning students interested in developing a personal spiritual path of peace and self-discovery while cultivating practical Reiki skills that will sustain a lifetime of self-healing, sharing Reiki with family and friends, volunteering and/or developing professional practice.

The instruction in these 3 and 4-month courses is designed to leave you feeling empowered and confident in your Reiki practice by providing a comprehensive exploration of Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho as currently taught and developed in Usui Sensei's original Reiki society (Gakkai) in Japan as well as contemporary Western Reiki healing methods developed through Takata-sensei's lineage in the US.

I've been a volunteer at Neighborhood Hospice and have done Reiki w/hospice patients for two of my three years there. As part of my program this year, my role at hospice is that of a social work intern, but being a Reiki volunteer was one of the most rewarding experiences that I've had.

Our coordinator, Janice, is looking to expand our volunteer group, especially in the complementary therapies (Reiki, massage, pet therapy, music). There are opportunities to work with both inpatient and home hospice clients. If you know of anyone who might be interested, it is a wonderful way to be of service. I've attached the notice that is beginning to go out to community groups and some area churches. If you have a group that might have potential volunteers, please feel free to pass it along.
